Visiting Legedade Orphanage Day 2

Hay for the cows, and a pile of cow pies for fuel. They sell cow's milk as well as dung for an income.

Injera for 106+!

We had found out about the orpahanage in Legedade before we had left. W/ro Tsige and her husband have been taking care of kids for the last 15 years, with sporadic support from others. Currently she has 106 kids, and some of her first children who came into care are now graduating from high school. We toured the compound, asing what was their biggest need. Currently, she had two rooms with bunkbeds for all the children. The boys were sleeping in one room, and they would alternate who would sleep on the concrete floor. There were 20 beds for 60 boys....it was heartbreaking. She told us stories about people tossing their babies over the fence at night. Tsige attended college with Peter, and has given up everything for these kids. Stay tuned for updates!
